If you are in Athens Greece on 12-16 April 2025, do not miss the 3rd Festival of Sacred Music. Featuring well-established artists, this superb festival will take place across several unique venues in Athens.
This year, the Festival will run from Saturday 12 to Wednesday 16 April, a few days before Greek Easter 2025, which will be celebrated on 20 April.
Led by artistic director Giorgos Koumentakis, the 3rd Festival of Sacred Music will feature over 40 concerts and events, which explore the many ways music connects with religious traditions and worship.
Sacred music has had a major influence on the growth of Western culture. The festival will include works created for religious purposes or inspired by spiritual themes, covering a wide range of styles and ideas.
The five-day Festival will include medieval and Byzantine hymns, Gregorian chants, French Baroque, Orthodox and Catholic liturgical music, as well as opera and contemporary music.
All performances are free of charge, but some require a reservation—please check the official website for details. Just make sure to arrive early, to avoid disappointment!
