Transportation from Corfu Airport to Corfu Town
Corfu island is one of the most popular destinations in Greece. It’s one of the Ionian islands and it’s located to the north-west of mainland Greece, in the Ionian sea.
Most visitors fly into Corfu airport. They then need make their way from the airport to Corfu Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or other area on the island.
The airport in Corfu is called Ioannis Kapodistrias (CFU airport), and it’s located about 3 kms (1.9 miles) south-west of Corfu town. It has recently been extended and renovated, and serves both international and domestic flights.

Take the public bus from the airport to Corfu city center
The blue line public bus is the cheapest way to get from Corfu Ioannis Kapodistrias international airport to the city center.
The bus going to Corfu town from the airport is bus No 15. It leaves from right outside the airport, and terminates at Corfu port. As you get out of the airport terminal, you will see a sign to both buses and taxis.
On the way, it passes by the intercity bus station, known in Greek as KTEL. This is where the green buses depart from, to go to many areas of the island. It then continues to San Rocco Square in the city centre, where many people are likely to get off.
Depending on where your hotel is in Corfu old town, you will then need to walk for 10-15 minutes.

During high season, the Corfu airport bus usually runs every 30 minutes.
Your bus trip into town should last about 10-20 minutes, depending on traffic, time of day and the exact stop where you will get off.

The airport bus fare to Corfu city centre only costs 1.70 euro.
There are no vending machines or bus information kiosk at the airport. You will buy your ticket from the bus driver, when you board the bus.
Unlike some other islands, including Santorini, you can buy your bus ticket with a debit / credit card. You don’t need to have cash with you.

The main issue with the local buses in Corfu is that they can get too crowded. If you have a lot of luggage, it’s best to use a taxi or pre-booked transfer.
In summer, there are dozens of flights from many cities in Europe, on a daily basis. On some days, there might be about 90-100 arrivals and the same number of departures! So, expect long queues of people waiting to board the bus.
Take a taxi from Corfu airport to Corfu town
If you prefer to avoid public transport, another way to get from Corfu airport into town is a taxi.
You will find the taxi rank at the arrivals area, a little further from the buses.
Taxis in Corfu are painted dark blue – nothing like the yellow taxis in Athens!!
The taxi fare from the airport to the town will generally differ according to the provider, the number of passengers, your exact destination and the time of day.
In general, you should expect to pay at least 20 euro for a taxi service to Corfu city center. The taxi ride will take about 10-15 minutes.
